Benefits<\/h3>\n

University Library Privileges: <\/strong>Library privileges as provided according to library regulations and eligibility requirements. Access to databases on the Web may require a UW NetID (provided).\u00a0 Some services are not free, and Visiting Scholars will be responsible for these fees. Visiting Scholars are not entitled to some faculty-level research services, including preparation of bibliographies and memoranda.<\/p>\n

Office Space: <\/strong>Office space may be available in the Center for Pediatric Dentistry, generally in a shared office.<\/p>\n

Computer Access: <\/strong>Computer access is available in offices and research laboratories and via the UW Wireless network. Visiting Scholars are provided with the information to establish a UW NetID for computing privileges such as e-mail and internet access.\u00a0 Visiting Scholars are required to use their own computers.\u00a0 All computing activities must be conducted within guidelines of the Office of Compliance.<\/p>\n

Intellectual Copyright and Authorship: <\/strong>Visiting Scholars whose primary interest is research are encouraged to publish the results or apply for patents based on the research data obtained while in the program. All intellectual property must be managed in a manner consistent with\u00a0UW CoMotion<\/a>.\u00a0 All publications must be approved by the host faculty and published according to prevailing ethical and professional standards.<\/p>\n

UW Facilities: <\/strong>For a modest monthly fee, Visiting Scholars receive access to recreational and other facilities of the University of Washington (contact the\u00a0UW Recreation)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bus Pass: <\/strong>Visiting Scholars are eligible for a University bus pass (U-Pass) at a nominal cost (contact\u00a0Parking Services<\/a>). This pass allows access to the extensive bus\/train transportation system in the Seattle area.<\/p>\n

Parking: <\/strong>Visiting Scholars are eligible for University campus parking for a fee (contact\u00a0Parking Services<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Other: <\/strong>Visiting Scholars may also be interested in participating in the\u00a0Summer Institute in Clinical Dental Research<\/a>.\u00a0 Participation is competitive and there is a separate fee to attend this program. The time spent on this program (6 weeks) will be counted as part of the Visiting Scholar program and all department fees are still applicable.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities and Limitations<\/h3>\n

Living Arrangements: <\/strong>Visiting Scholars are responsible for all housing, transportation, and personal costs while at the University of Washington.\u00a0 Visiting Scholars must make their own living and transportation arrangements.\u00a0 The host faculty may be able to guide the applicant to various resources.<\/p>\n
