UW School of Dentistry students presented at 2026 Research Day

Two University of Washington dental students, Priyanka Prajapati and Alireza Vahdati, presented their research at the 2026 School of Dentistry Research Day. Both students are affiliated with the UW Timothy A. DeRouen Center for Global Oral Health, reflecting the center’s continued leadership in advancing global and community-focused oral health research.

Alireza Vahdati is a 4th year University of Washington School of Dentistry student.

Priyanka Prajapati is a 3rd year University of Washington School of Dentistry IDDS program student.

Priyanka Prajapati’s accepted abstract, “Bridging HIV care’s oral health gaps: Training Kisumu’s non-dental providers”, examines strategies to strengthen oral health care within HIV services in Kenya by training non-dental healthcare providers, while Alireza Vahdati’s work, “Voice-driven data collection in REDCap for Global Oral Health Screenings”, highlights innovative, technology-driven approaches to improving oral health data collection in resource-limited settings. Their acceptance to the 2026 UW SoD Research Day underscores the impact of University of Washington student research on global oral health challenges and showcases the role of interdisciplinary, internationally engaged scholarship at the School of Dentistry.
